Vintage Adult Book Covers = Funny as Shit

I spent the morning browsing tumblr.  If you’ve done this, you know you can completely lose time.  Instead of cleaning and making an appetizer for today’s football game, I was cackling and clicking on photos of vintage adult books.  The thing that is so completely hysterical about these book covers is that they were supposed to be serious and erotic.  I’m guessing you’ll find them as funny as I did.

That ho is NOT a virgin.

The third sex?

"the nameless horror that stalks the shadows"  apparently the nameless horror has a name and that name is VAGINA!

WTF?!

Now that's really gay.

#1 reason I don't have a cat and is that dyke wearing Han Solo's pants?

Free/Cheap Food Day!!

This was my free biscuit.

Today is all about some free food!  I’m a big fan of food, probably TOO BIG of a fan, but throw the word “free” in front of food and I get really excited.  I’ve blogged before about going online and joining restaurant clubs.  You get free food on your birthday and some restaurants send you regular coupons.  DO IT…sign up!  If you don’t sign up, I am totally going to talk about you behind your back.

This week Chick-fil-A was running a free breakfast special if you signed up online.  That meant a free chicken biscuit today.  Now I get that Chick-fil-A is not a fan of gay marriage and that they will never support it, but my homo self is going to cash in on their free biscuits…and my partner did, too.  We thought of it as Chick-fil-A’s wedding shower gift to us.  For lunch, we got an email from Chili’s with a coupon for a free appetizer with the purchase of an entrĂ©e.  Free food for one of us!  And then tonight, we are meeting a group of my former coworkers for Mexican food.  The special at the restaurant is $1 margaritas!!!!!  So no free food, but who gives a shit if you are drinking $1 margaritas. I have no doubt we will have a great time and there will be more dollar bills flying than douche bag day at the Boobie Bungalow.   All and all, I have no doubt this will be a good day!

Frozen Peanut Butter Pie with Candied Bacon - WTF and WOW Recipe Wednesday

Frozen Peanut Butter Pie with Candied Bacon (www.gourmet.com)
Ingredients
7 bacon slices (about 6 ounces)
3/4 cup sugar, divided
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
About 35 chocolate wafers, finely ground in a blender or food processor (about 2 cups crumbs)
3/4 stick unsalted butter, melted
1 cup milk
1 cup creamy peanut butter (not natural)
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups chilled heavy cream
1/3 cup salted roasted peanuts, finely chopped

Preparation
Cook bacon (in 2 batches if necessary) in a 12-inch heavy skillet over medium heat, turning once, until lightly browned on edges but still flexible, 5 to 6 minutes total per batch. Transfer to paper towels to drain.  Pour off fat from skillet and arrange bacon in skillet in 1 layer. Sprinkle 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon over bacon and cook over low heat, turning occasionally with tongs, until sugar has dissolved and then caramelized (sugar melts very slowly and burns easily; reduce heat if necessary after sugar begins to caramelize) and coats bacon, 8 to 10 minutes. (Bacon will be dark and look lacquered.) Transfer bacon with tongs to a cutting board to cool. When bacon is cool, finely chop 5 slices, leaving remaining 2 slices whole.  Stir together wafer crumbs and butter, then press onto bottom and up side of pie plate. Chill pie shell.  Heat remaining 1/2 cup sugar and milk in a small heavy saucepan over medium heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and whisk in peanut butter and vanilla until combined well, then transfer to a bowl and cool completely in an ice bath, stirring occasionally.  Beat cream with an electric mixer until it just holds stiff peaks, then fold into peanut butter mixture with peanuts and chopped bacon gently but thoroughly. Transfer filling to pie shell, smoothing top.  Cut remaining 2 bacon slices into 2-inch-long pieces and arrange in a decorative starburst shape in center of pie. Freeze pie, uncovered, until frozen hard, about 5 hours. Let pie soften slightly in refrigerator before serving, about 30 minutes.

“True” History Q & A

Today I thought I would take the time to answer some reader questions regarding “True” History Tuesday.

Anonymous:  Where do you get your information for “True” History Tuesday?

Me:  Years of study abroad and degrees from Yale and Harvard have allowed me the opportunity to learn a shitton about history.  I also spent time in the Congo, Rainforest and Yellowstone.

Historylover:  What is your source for saying Lewis and Clark adopted an Asian baby?

Me:  The I’m a Homo, You’re Not monthly newsletter

Henryswives:  Thank you so much for finally answering the question about what happened to Anne Boleyn’s head!

Me:  I’m glad I could clear that up for you.  Changing lives and bringing peace to the world is the very least thing I am trying to accomplish.

Marty Krofft:  Where do you get off saying H.R. Pufnstuf shot Abraham Lincoln??

Me:  Pictures don’t lie and I don’t even have Photoshop.

Anonymous:  “True” History is the biggest bunch of bullshit I have ever read.

Me:  Seeing how large and how much information is on the internet, I’ll take that as quite a compliment.  Thank you.

AnnaAnderson:  I always suspect that Rasputin invented the Ice Schlong.  I think of him every time I get a snow cone.

Me:  That post was one of my most exhausting research endeavors to date.  Traveling to Siberia is never easy or warm.

GourmetGuru:  I honestly will never eat pork rinds (Marie Antoinette’s hair) and Arby’s curly fries (Indian guy with those long nails) again.  Yuck.

Me:  I’m just the messenger.  I’m sorry to have altered your dietary standards.

AxeHandle:  I’m so glad to learn that Lizzie Borden was betwitched by licking a cane toad!

Me:  Me, too.  It is ironic how ironic history can be.

Happy Labor Day!!

It’s Labor Day and that means cooler weather!  I love the fall.  It is my favorite season.  Then spring.  I like to have the ability to maybe need a light jacket or maybe not.  I’m looking so forward to grilling out and not sweating like a hog.  This summer has been brutal.  I would sweat profusely just opening my window to get cash from the ATM.  There’s something wrong with that.  I can’t wait for dog walks that don’t feel like a sauna.  I mean, it was so hot this summer that the pool was even too hot.  So bring on the leaves changing colors and falling, the nice weather, the smell of pumpkins in the air and mums blooming.  In the meantime though, here is another cat and printer video.  What is it with cats and printers?  Actually, what is with cats in general?
